Name: Paul Robinson
Role: National Sales Director
Q: How did you come to find cybersecurity as a career?
A: Actually Cybersecurity found me. I was hired by a CLEC to sell voice and data services, given my prior employment history. A week into being there, they announced that the company was switching business models and going into cybersecurity.
Q: What’s your favorite part about working in cybersecurity?
A: I did not grow up in a business household. My dad ran a church in Brooklyn, NY for the homeless and chemically dependent. So I grew up in an environment where helping people was paramount. Cybersecurity allows me to stay true to that mindset by bringing solutions to clients that help solve business problems.
Q: What has been your craziest experience working in cybersecurity?
A: I've had many crazy experiences, however there is one that sticks out in my mind. I was running a product demo for Palo Alto Networks for a K-12 organization. When we plugged the Palo in there was an amazing amount of traffic going to adult sites. When the Tech Director drilled into who it was, it was “him”. Long story short, one of the kids stole his credentials and, well, the rest is implied.
Q: When you’re not helping our clients protect their networks and data, how do you spend your time?
A: I am a married father of 4, so I'm an Uber driver, referee, counselor, coach, personal chef, and ATM machine.
Q: IGI has team members across the country, where do you live and why do you love it there?
A: I live in Rochester, NY. I have lived here for 17 years. I love it here because the quality of life and cost of living is perfect for our family.
Q: We’re all spending a lot more time at home. What’s your favorite thing you are reading or watching right now?
A: I am a sports guy, so currently I am watching a lot of baseball. Confession: I am a fan of the Bachelor and enjoy watching that with my wife.
Q: Cats or dogs?
A: We have a puppy. Some days I love her, some days I don’t.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A: Being 100% Fearless.
